Greece
While I was in Greece I pretty much stayed in Athens and made day trips with an outfit attached to the hostel there. The hostel was located in such a perfect part of town that it was easy to walk to the majority of the best sites. And I did a lot of walking in Greece.

I spent an entire week in Athens, which gave me a lot of time to take pictures as you can tell from this gallery.

7 - 8 September 2006
I stopped in Patras just long enough to get from the ship to the train station. The journey from Amalfi across the width of Italy, then a sea ferry from Italy to Greece, and then from Patras all the way across Greece to Athens was long but enjoyable. The view at night aboard ship was amazing.

This was one of the day trips I took while staying in Athens. The destination was Poseidon's Temple which stands on a windy point in Sounion at the south tip of the Greek mainland.
